A 'Day of Welcome' in Norfolk

On 20th April 2018, at least 22 schools across Norfolk will be taking part in a 'Day of Welcome' with special assemblies and lessons on sanctuary.

Widden Primary School featured in UNHCR article

Widden Primary School in Gloucester was awarded as a School of Sanctuary in 2017. This article and video features some of the reasons why they're a School of Sanctuary.

Leaving: Reflections in poetry on the refugee crisis

Y4 and 5 children at Greystone Community Primary School in Ripon wrote these poems and the booklet was given away to all attendees at the 'Sanctuary and Poetry' event as part of the Ripon Poetry Festival 2017

A day out at Sutton on Sea

Greater Lincolnshire Area of Sanctuary organised a befriending day in August 2017 between local King Edwards VI Grammar School students and young refugees from Leicester and Leeds, including a trip to the beach at Sutton on Sea.

‘We Refugees’ by Norwich Schools of Sanctuary – A poem written and performed by Year 5 pupils at Avenue Junior School, Norwich in response to Benjamin Zephaniah’s poem ‘We Refugees.’

Benjamin Zephaniah said, “It’s only the month of June, and it’s already clear that this is the school of the year, and the school of the future. They make great videos, cool music, and their football skills are good too.”
