In partnership with the Association of Colleges, City of Sanctuary organised a meeting of Further Education (FE) Colleges in Leeds on Friday 24 January 2020 at the Printworks campus of Leeds City College. The aims of the exploratory meeting was to bring together FE Colleges working with people seeking sanctuary to share ideas and best practice and discuss how a network of Colleges of Sanctuary may develop.

College representatives come from the recently awarded Halesowen College, Wakefield College, Leeds City College, Preston College, Sheffield College, Fircroft College and Northern College. Preston College shared a presentation on how the College became a College of Sanctuary — and what it has meant for the organisation to collaborate with City of Sanctuary.

Group discussions explored some of the challenges to supporting people seeking sanctuary to access FE, and what opportunities exist to support them. The day closed with a review on how to further build a network and enhance collaboration between Colleges. For more information, please contact [email protected]
