To become a School of Sanctuary, schools must ensure that the entire school community (students, teachers, governors, other school staff and parent/carers) have opportunities to learn about what it means to be seeking sanctuary and the issues surrounding forced migration. School staff should also have opportunities to become better aware of the needs of students from sanctuary seeking backgrounds and how to meet them effectively.

Here we have compiled a selection or resources and advice to help schools fulfill the relevant learn criteria.

Evidence of refugee/asylum/migration learning activities are included into school life and at least one example in the curriculum, across the key stages.

Training and education opportunities are provided for school staff and management on refugee, asylum and forced migration issues.
