This school flipped the idea of the advent calendar on its head – all to inspire welcome and compassion. Last year St Andrew’s Primary School in the Wirral launched their own reverse Advent Calendar to support local refugee-organisation, Heart 4 Refugees. This activity was all about putting compassion into action.
Working with Heart 4 Refugees, the school organised a week of collections, focusing on a different food or toiletry item each day. At the end of the week, the incredible generosity of the students and their families was distributed to people seeking sanctuary in the local area.
We love this incredible, simple way to show welcome.
Could your school do something similar this December?
Reach out to a local refugee-organisation and ask how you can support them and then share your efforts with us!
