The “What is home?” patchwork canvas in Bradford

A magnificent patchwork canvas, measuring over four metres by two, was created by stitching together about 1000 small squares. Syrian children from refugee camps in Jordan and pupils from Bradford schools were asked to decorate the small squares with images of home. Some of the images from Jordon were, unsurprisingly, very disturbing.

The project was led by the Human Relief Foundation and Horton Grange Primary School. The canvas was exhibited at Bradford City of Sanctuary’s Refugee Week art exhibition. There is more information on Bradford’s Sanctuary in Schools page.
