Hello, my name is Megan and I’m the Schools of Sanctuary Coordinator at City of Sanctuary UK.
On Sunday the 26th May, I’m running the Edinburgh Half Marathon to raise money for Schools of Sanctuary. Every penny will ensure even more schools are places of welcome and support for children seeking sanctuary.
I believe that wherever we come from, we all have a right to feel safe. When I’m running I’ll be thinking about the brutal journeys children seeking sanctuary face, which are far longer and more challenging than the 13 miles I’ll be doing. I believe that when these children arrive here in the UK, they should feel safe in school and be treated with kindness and compassion.
As a school in our Schools of Sanctuary network, I know you feel the same.
So on Friday the 24th May I’m asking you to join me and for everyone in your school to run one mile with me.
There are more than 425 awarded Schools of Sanctuary with another 400 working towards – so if everyone of you can join me and run, walk, skip or crawl one mile and donate just £1 per person, think about how much we could raise together.
Every donation will go towards helping us to grow the number of schools just like yours – where children who have been forced to flee, feel safe, welcomed and belonging.
Sign up to be part of this fundraiser, receive updates and resources and suggested activities to make this more meaningful as we get closer to the run.
You can send your donations via my fundraising page.
Thank you so much for running with me.
